Youth Department :: Programs & Weekly Schedule

New Jerusalem is a church that cherishes our children. We have services that are focused towards children of every age. Sunday morning we have Sunday school for all ages and during morning worship we have a special service for children ages 5-12 called BRIGHT Ministry. Wednesday evening there is a variety of children’s activities for both teens and younger children. Friday night is our full-blown Youth Service where we have great variety of activities. One week it may be a movie, another week games and yet another practical lessons. There is always a biblical lesson conveyed at every youth function.

Bright Ministry
Sunday 12:15-1:30 p.m. & Wednesday 7:30–9:00 p.m.

We believe that our children desire to worship and praise the Lord as we do.  Therefore, children are dismissed from Worship Service and given that opportunity every Sunday except the 3rd Sunday, which is our Youth and Fellowship Sunday.  The children pray, give an offering, sing, hear the Word of God, play games,  and receive awards as they are allowed to worship the Lord as children.

Drama Team & Creative Writing
1st & 3rd Wednesday 7:30-9:00 p.m.

Youth, ages 13-18, are given the opportunity to express their understanding of the Word of God by dramatic expression.  Youth’s are instructed on how to develop and act in these skits/plays.  If you know teens that thrive on theatrics and melodramatics, the drama team will help him/her to express those.

Expressions in Praise
1st & 3rd Wednesday 7:30-9:00 p.m.

One of the greatest and most powerful ways to express and experience worship is with expressions by motion. Kids ages 5-12, are given the opportunity to do just that.  Join us for this powerful time of praise as children demonstrate the written Word of God by action.

Jr. Sunday School
Sunday 10:00-11:30 a.m.

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and contains one harmonious and complete system of doctrine.  As we hold to these truths, we believe that Sunday school is the place where all children develop a love and reverence for God’s Word.  Each week, children gather together with their peers and explore the richness of the Holy Bible. 

Sunshine Band
2nd, & 4th Wednesday 7:30-9:00 p.m.

Sunshine Band is designed to give children, ages 5-12, the opportunity to glorify God with their voices and instruments.  Singing praises is the purpose of this group.  However, the challenge is to deal with the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual changes and development of each child.  This is one of the oldest ministries/auxiliaries of the church; many great leaders were a part of this ministry.

Y.E.S. Club  
2nd 4th & 5th Wednesday 7:30-9:00 p.m.

 Teens, ages 13-18 gather together with their peers to discuss issues of concern such as peer pressure, sex, school, etc.  They are given the opportunity to explore what the Word of God says about those concerns in a very relaxed, yet respectful, atmosphere.

Young Men of Valor  
4th Wednesday 7:30-9:00 p.m.

This unique ministry is specifically designed for young men ages 13-18 in the Church of God in Christ, who have a calling and interest in becoming leaders in their churches, communities, and understanding their roles as men of God.  This ministry is set to encourage growth in areas of self-discipline, self-assurance, leadership and most of all, a love for God. The goal of Young Men of Valor is to ensure that each young man will have the tools to act responsibly in his family, church, schools and community.

Young Women of Excellence
4th Wednesday 7:30-9:00 p.m.

Friday night services are designed with kids and their families in mind.  The Youth Sanctuary for worship through prayer, offering, devotion, song, movies and games we proceed with other worship activities which glory our Lord, Jesus Christ.
